Gunshine.net is a post-apocalyptic MMORPG that is browser-based. Since you do not have to download a client, Gunshine.net will play on any modern platform that uses a web browser. GunShine is a free-to-play MMORPG that can be launched from either Facebook or the main Gunshine.net website.
Here’s how it works: the game world is broken into sections (almost like instances) that will download and cache as you visit them, so you’re never downloading anything that you’re not using at the time.
The beauty of GunShine is having the choice of playing either solo or co-op in a group. At this time, there are three different character classes to choose from when designing your character — a tank (bodyguard), damage dealer (hunter) and healer (doctor). Each class has its own unique benefits in combat and for grouping.
The bodyguard is based on close-range melee attacks. The hunter is the rogue class, attacking from a distance with the use of range weapons like rifles and guns. The doctor class is mainly for healing and supporting the other characters while in a group. The doctor class needs to stay away during combat situations.
Gunshine.net takes place in a 3D environment that is seen from an isometric camera view. The world is rather large and continues to grow with every update. There are plenty of zones (areas) for grinding out levels and for questing. You will never have a problem finding quests; there seems to be a new quest around every corner.
Gunshine plays similar to other MMORPGs on the market. The combat system is turn-based. To attack, you have to point-and-click on an enemy. If you are a loot monger like me, you will be pleased to know that there is plenty of good items to loot while playing.
There is also a complete crafting system to keep you busy. Items can be made from materials found inside crates/boxes, and from mobs and bosses. Boss mobs can also drop new recipes that will allow you to craft new, rare items that cannot be found anywhere else.
I really like the grouping system that’s in place for trying to find a group for dungeons/instances. There’s a boss finder tab in the upper left-hand corner that allows you to find any boss and/or dungeon. The grouping system places you in the next available group for instances. Farming bosses is not a bad idea if you can find some downtime in between grinding and questing.
If you happen to find things a bit difficult in the beginning, you can visit the item mall for help. The item mall offers better weapons that can help you level easier. The item mall isn’t just for weapons, items and gear — you can purchase currency as well.
GunShine also has a built-in chat function, so finding other players in the world to sell items or to find help is easy. GunShine’s community is very helpful and eager to help all players, new or otherwise. Finding a group takes minutes, and you can jump right into leveling or questing within the first thirty seconds of launching the game.
Between the weekly updates and the endless quests available, Gunshine.net will keep you hooked for a very long time. It’s surprising how much can be accomplished in such a short period of time. Some MMORPGs feel like they’re holding you back when you play, but that isn’t the case here.
Gunshine.net is one of the best browser-based MMORPGs available today. If you have an internet connection and an updated browser, you can play Gunshine.net. If you think you have what it takes to live in a post-apocalyptic world, then pack your guns — you’re going to need them.
