Ever wish you could save the world from a catastrophic end? Daedelic Entertainment’s A New Beginning Final Cut on Steam will allow you to do just that.

The game opens with two scientists checking out the Earth’s surface in the year 2500. The readings show that the world is going to end in less than two weeks when a solar flare reaches the Earth and will destroy all life, and the only hope is to go back in time and change the past.

In the year 2050, you play Bent Svensson, a retired Bio Engineer in Norway and Fay, a member of the time-traveling team who are traveling back to try and save mankind from its own self-destruction. The tutorial, which is highly recommended, helps you get used to the buttons and how to play. It also gives you some background to the story.

When a character has dialogue, you can choose what you want your character to say. I usually started with the top dialogue and worked my way down.

Once you make it past the tutorial, the game is divided into chapters. Save often and in-between chapters. In the tutorial, Bent must get his fogger working so he can have wood to burn during the winter. In the process of doing so, he meets Fay. Fay explains her reasons for being there and that she needs his help to save the world. Bent does not believe her. Fay traveled to the past with other members of her team and must work with them in order for her mission to be successful.

The challenges in ANB range from setting up a radio transmitter, having to save Fay’s fellow team members, to escaping from confined spaces, among many others. You will find yourself exploring all areas of the map. You will also find yourself going back to places that you have also already explored.

Some of the puzzles are hard to figure out, while others are easy to complete. To find the active areas on screen, hit the space bar. When you are interacting with other characters, the dialogs appear on the lower left-hand part of your screen. You can click on each sentence to begin the interaction. To go in the direction that you want to, just move your mouse pointer toward it.

I found that one of the difficult parts of the game is to align the mouse pointer so that you can get the right part of the object you are trying to focus on. Multiple save windows allow for multiple saves or multiple people to play. A New Beginning Final Cut is a new take on saving the world from itself. So go ahead and jump in to start a new beginning.

Reminiscent of comic books, ANB stands out among other point-and-click games.
Sound
Attention to detail and realistic sounds makes the player feel as if they are in the scene itself.
Gameplay
Gameplay is intuitive and it's easy to maneuver the character to where you want them to go. Trying to open some closed items can be a little tricky as it can be difficult to position the mouse pointer properly.
Overall
A fun game that can be played by multiple people who want to save the world. The ANB has lots to explore and many challenges that will keep you busy and will not let you get bored.
